Advent Days at Jindřichův Hradec Castle
The National Heritage Institute, the Jindřichův Hradec State Castle and Chateau and The Society for the Restoration of Monuments in the Jindřichův Hradec Region invite you to visit the Advent Days on the second weekend of Advent, December 7 and 8.
The programme of both days will offer a number of artistic performances. The castle's Rondel will become a ballroom and the Ballare dance group will perform their art in it. Small theatrical performances will take place in the courtyard, in the Royal Hall of the Gothic Palace and in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. The castle lord Henry IV of Hradec and his retinue are expected to visit again. On Saturday, the chapel will be filled with a performance by the Adam Michna Temple Choir and on Sunday, the traditional ecumenical service with the participation of the clergy of the three Christian churches is scheduled for the chapel.
On the second and third courtyards, we are organising a market with original goods. Some vendors return to us regularly, but you can also look forward to new items. The more than 500 year old black kitchen will be open again.
Children and adults will enjoy the small menagerie in the third courtyard, or the exhibition of falconry-trained birds of prey or archery in the second courtyard. A blacksmith, potters, basket weaver and sculptor will demonstrate their skills. In the castle creative workshop in the Spanish Wing, not only young visitors can try their hand at making Christmas decorations from natural materials.
