RESORT & WELLNESS HOTEL ORLÍK
The hotel offers a sauna world as well as a pool open to the public. Swimming is also possible directly in the Orlík Reservoir, where a sandy beach is available.
The hotel was built in the late 1950s and early 1960s in the Brussels style. It can be said that this is the only hotel of its kind in Czechoslovakia, as there are very few Brussels-style buildings. The hotel was originally exclusively used for the recreation of Czechoslovak government elites. Apart from the main building, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a luxurious sandy beach by the Orlík Reservoir, the hotel complex also included several luxury cottages, which were occupied by high-ranking officials, including former president Gustav Husák. Access to the area was through two controlled security zones, and barbed wire fences surrounding the entire complex resembled a state border.
The hotel still preserves a scale model of the Middle Vltava River basin, which is a detailed representation of the Vltava River before the construction of dams and the Vltava Cascade.
