One of the most significant technical landmarks in the country lies west of the South Bohemian town of Lišov, near the rest areas along the main road connecting České Budějovice and Třeboň. It is the fundamental levelling point for height measurement, which is the only one preserved from the original nine points set up for the Czech lands during the time of Austria-Hungary. The point is located at an altitude of 564.759 m above sea level. It was measured in 1878 and in 1890 marked with a two-meter-high pyramid monument made of three parts.
