Gallery Český Krumlov, Monasteries
A place where history and art come to life in the unique setting of a former Poor Clare monastery. The art gallery is located in three corridors of the former cloister ambit on the first floor, complemented by the rooms of the former cells, which served as the medieval accommodations of the nuns.

The Gallery Český Krumlov showcases exhibitions of contemporary artists as well as historical artworks.
Children's Illustration Collection
Discover the magic of children's illustrations admired by audiences worldwide. The exhibited works represent a selection from one of the largest European collections of children's illustrations, acquired by the town of Český Krumlov in 2021 from Otakar Božejovský von Rawennoff, co-founder of the Swiss publishing house Bohem Press. Otakar Božejovský's collection offers over 600 original works by 30 artists from different parts of the world. Selected pieces, previously exhibited in prestigious galleries such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York or the Centre Pompidou in Paris, can now be seen in the monastery gallery.
Within the Monastery Complex, you can also find:
- Historical Playroom, a space full of creative interactive workshops, especially designed for families with children.
- Monastery Museum, revealing the story of this extraordinary site and presenting its rich history, unique architecture, and extensive collection of sacred art.
- Craft Workshops, where you can watch glassmakers, dyers, potters, or blacksmiths at work, learn traditional crafts, and create your own product.
