Birdwatching Tower Vrbenské rybníky
A triangular pyramid-shaped observation tower on the edge of the Starý Houženský pond. The total height of the tower is 9 meters, and birds and the surrounding nature can be observed from a viewing platform at a height of 7 meters.
The Vrbenské rybníky Nature Reserve is exceptional primarily for its rare and endangered bird species and is part of the Natura 2000 network as a part of the Českobudějovické rybníky bird area. Besides a large number of birds, the area is also significant for its invertebrate fauna, especially butterflies, with 831 nocturnal species identified here, representing 30% of the butterfly fauna in the Czech Republic. The reserve is also home to an important population of bats that inhabit the cavities of mature trees along the dikes.

How to get there
You can reach the observation tower from the parking lot of the Recreation and Congress Center Nové Dvory via an oak walkway through the reeds. On foot or by bike around the Vrbenské rybníky.
