Additional information
It is only one year younger than the International Ceramics Symposiums, which have been held in Bechyně since 1966 as the world’s oldest regular event of this kind.
The International Museum of Ceramics is now housed in a former service building in Bechyně, located within sight of the town square, at the corner of Čechova and Novodvorská streets.
We present a selection of the finest pieces from our collection, always paired with a suitable counterpart, aiming to showcase monumental sculptures, small sculptures, functional ceramics, reliefs, figures, and portraits. Although the collection is permanent, that does not mean it remains unchanged. The exhibited works will be periodically rotated, so over time, more and more new pieces will appear. The goal of the permanent exhibition is to present our entire collection.
For new and returning visitors, students, teachers, guests, and tourists, the message remains the same: there is nothing more traditional and yet contemporary than returning to Bechyně and discovering something new each time.
Do you know that...
… the tradition of ceramic production in Bechyně dates back to the Middle Ages, and the town is home to several ceramic workshops?
