Soumarské Peat Bog
This is a unique example of peat bog revitalization following the end of industrial extraction. Peat extraction here ceased in the year 2000.
How to get there
The Soumarský Bridge is located about half a kilometer from the main road between Volary and Lenora and is especially well-known among canoeists navigating the Vltava River. You can get here by taking Road No. 39 from Volary toward Lenora. After approximately 4 km, turn left toward the Soumarský most campsite, where the educational trail begins. Unfortunately, cycling on the bog is prohibited.

Soumarské Peat Bog Educational Trail
The educational trail mostly follows wooden boardwalks and ends at the Soumarský most lookout tower. Along the way, you’ll encounter seven information panels offering insight into the fascinating world of Šumava’s peat bogs.
