The Highest Railway Station in the Czech Republic
The first mention of the village Kubova Huť dates back to 1728, when Johann Podschneider established a glassworks here. The village was named after Castle Governor Guba, giving rise to the name Kubova Huť. In 1899, the highest railway station in the Czech Republic was built here.
The railway line connecting the towns of Vimperk and Volary was constructed in 1899 and is situated at an altitude of 995 meters above sea level.
