Brewery Rožmberk
The Rožmberk brewery reopened in July 2023 after extensive renovations. Five types of beer and regional specialties are offered on tap. Visitors literally wander through South Bohemia.
As for history, the former estate brewery, where beer brewing began as early as 1590, has a very eventful history. And it's a celebration! Visitors can literally wander through South Bohemia. For example, they can start in flat Třeboňsk, represented by carp fries, then head to the foothills of the Šumava where they'll come across beef navel or pork cheeks, and end at the sweet spot on the Austrian border with imperial dried meat.
The brewery also includes a four-star hotel with wellness and beer spas. In the historic cellar there is a viewing corridor that divides it into a brewery and a distillery. The courtyard has a large glass pergola and its own bar, kitchen, grill and smokehouse. On the first floor there is a bakery, chocolate shop, praline shop, pastry shop and coffee roastery. All local products, including preserved meat, sausages, jams, cranberries and honey, will be sold in the local shop for regional products. "We will not only brew beer, but also create an experience center in the truest sense of the word," explains project manager Michael Krumel.
How to get there
Rožmberk nad Vltavou is a picturesque town in the Šumava foothills, 23 kilometers upstream from Český Krumlov. You can reach Rožmberk by car or bike along the Vltava River, surrounded by forests and cliffs. However, the most famous way to reach the town is by boat: From Vyšší Brod, it takes about two hours by canoe or raft to the weir below Rožmberk Castle. There, you can easily disembark on the left bank and visit the newly renovated Rožmberk Brewery.
