Museum of the Central Otava Region
The Museum of the Central Otava Region in Strakonice is located within the complex of the Strakonice Castle, founded in the first quarter of the 13th century by the noble family of Bavors of Strakonice at the confluence of the Otava and Volyňka rivers.
Due to its preservation, the castle complex is among the oldest and largest in Bohemia and was declared a national cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture in 1995.
The museum, founded in 1894, manages permanent exhibitions in the premises of the Strakonice Castle and, since 2008, the unique complex of the water mill in Hoslovice.
