Plum Court

Plum Court

Plum Court serves as a hub for the creation of new productions and projects by Divadlo Continuo, a space for residencies of artistic groups and individuals, as well as a cultural organization that prepares a regular program for the public focused on contemporary independent theatre and dance. The performances held here cater to both young and adult audiences.

History
In 1995, members of Divadlo Continuo purchased a former agricultural estate in the village of Malovice in South Bohemia and named it Plum Court. The sprawling estate, dating back to 1868, became the home of Divadlo Continuo and its members, a base for the group’s year-round work, and a venue for work meetings, workshops, and international projects.

A Community Cultural Space
The effort of Divadlo Continuo’s members to build, maintain, and develop an artistic center outside the city is driven by a desire to create an open workspace and living environment not only for the group’s artistic work but also for other groups and individuals through residencies, guest performances, workshops for children and adults, conferences, seminars, educational programs, community projects, and other activities.

Renovated and Renewed
In 2015, Plum Court underwent a complete renovation, and a new modern wooden multifunctional theatre hall was built in place of the old barn. The estate was transformed into a space for the ensemble, residents, and the public. In the same year, the theatre, cultural, and educational center Plum Court was officially opened, making it unique in its program and mission across the Czech Republic.
