Graphite Mine in Český Krumlov

Are you interested in how graphite is mined? Would you like to experience the work of a miner? If you visit Český Krumlov, you can take the opportunity to explore the Graphite Mine and discover an exciting underground world.

Before the tour, you will be equipped with special protective clothing, including a miner’s lamp. You will then take a mine train, which was once used by miners to travel to their shifts, into the underground tunnels. At the first station, you will disembark and continue on foot.

During the tour, you will experience firsthand the conditions in which miners worked and the machines they used. Your guide will explain the graphite mining process, how it was processed, and what products were made from it. The entire tour is led by an experienced guide.

How to get there

Parking is available directly at the Graphite Mine. Alternatively, self-service parking lots are available – the nearest is P1 (Jelenka), about a 10-minute walk away.

Tour length: 2 km (1,200 m by train, 800 m on foot). Duration: about 70 minutes.
The Graphite Mine offers refreshments, parking, and a souvenir shop.
