Langova Lookout Tower Onen Svět

Langova Lookout Tower Onen Svět

The fully wooden lookout tower is 15 meters tall and stands at an altitude of 620 meters above sea level.

It has 4 viewing platforms, with the topmost offering a panoramic view of approximately 330°. You can typically see the Bohemian Forest, and on very clear days, even the Alps.

From Langova Lookout Tower, you can see the Orlík Reservoir and Orlík Castle, the Kovářovsko and Krásnohorsko regions, the panorama of the Bohemian Forest and Novohradské Mountains, the Central Vltava region, the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, and the Central Bohemian Uplands.

The settlement Onen Svět is located north of Lašovice (500 m directly, 2 km by road) and about 6.5 km from Kovářov. In 2011, nine permanent residents lived here. At the center of the village is a wooden cottage named Onen Svět, built in 1940, which gave the settlement its name. Next to it, Langova Lookout Tower was built in 2001.

Another settlement named Onen Svět is located on the other side of the same Hrbů ridge, within the municipality of Klučenice.

The name Onen Svět or Onej Svět was historically used. There were several buildings here, including a small manor house, which has completely disappeared. In the 17th century, many Protestants lived in the area, who were able to profess their faith publicly after the issuance of the Toleration Patent. According to sources, the name Onen Svět derives from a solitary place of the same name, where followers of the Protestant movement once hid in secrecy.
