Boubín lookout tower

The Boubín Lookout Tower is located at the top of the Boubín Forest at an altitude of 1,326 m. The original lookout tower stood here from 1878 until the 70's of the last century. The current appearance of the lookout tower was officially opened on June 3, 2005. The tower is interesting because it is located in a protected area and material for its construction was conveyed to the summit by horses, manually and by cable car.

At the top of the 21 meters high lookout tower there are 109 steps and offers a view of the Šumava panorama towards Libín, Kleť, Bobík, Plechý, Stožec, Poledník, but also to the German Hochficht. From the Boubín lookout tower you can also see the town of Vimperk, seeing Hluboka nad Vltavou, Temelín and Brdy. As in the case of the Libín look-out tower, it is possible to see the Alps as well.

At present the observation tower is freely accessible throughout the year.
