Route description
Borovany – Trocnov – Radostice – Růžov – Vrcov – Hluboká u Borovan – Jílovice – Třebec – Dvorec – Borovany
In Borovany, you can read local legends on two information panels – one in the castle courtyard, the other at the corner of the kindergarten garden. The trip starts on cycle route 1123 towards Ostrolovský Újezd. After crossing the railway tracks in Borovany, an info panel with more legends marks a good spot for a 2 km detour on a narrow asphalt road to the fairy-tale guesthouse Borovanský mlýn.
After the cemetery in the forest, we turn right onto route 1122, which leads us to the Jan Žižka Memorial in Trocnov. Here, you can get a stamp featuring a legend. The educational loop around the archaeological excavations of Žižka's birthplace can also be cycled.
The route continues to Radostice via a non-marked road, then returns to the Borovany road and joins cycle route 1121. After crossing the main road, we follow a narrow asphalt road to the cross near the road from Borovany to Ledenice via Růžov.
From here, we take route 1050, passing a quarry and landfill, then at Růžov, we turn right towards Vrcov. In Vrcov, there's an info panel about wayside shrines and a blueberry stamp available in the village pub. We cross the main road and continue through Hluboká u Borovan, where another stamp is available in the local pub.
Beyond the pub, at the junction to Jílovice, we turn left and ride gently uphill past an agricultural enterprise to a cross near the hunting lodge, where we turn right into the forest. In the forest, we take the road left towards Jílovice. At the top of the hill in the forest, we turn right and ride on a quiet asphalt road towards the Jílovice train station. Here, you can collect another stamp at the open Veteran Museum.
We continue right on the road over the Stropnice River. This nature reserve is called Brouskův mlýn, with an information panel about the protected area on the left after the bridge. At the next junction, we turn right and ride through Třebec, where another stamp can be collected, and then proceed to Dvorec. At the junction in Dvorec, we turn left onto the main road towards Trhové Sviny.
Beyond the village, we visit the private Exotic Animal Park, where we can collect another stamp. We return to Borovany via Dvorec on the main road. Before the bridge over the Stropnice River, on the left at the forest path, there is another information panel with local legends.
