Route description
From Nový Dvůr parking lot, the trail first leads to U modrého obrázku, from where you ascend to the Granátník summit (810 m a.s.l.). On the eastern slope of Granátník hill, there is a 5-meter-high wooden observation tower, offering stunning views of the picturesque Vltava valley. The viewing platform is freely accessible year-round. In good weather, you can see Hluboká nad Vltavou, České Budějovice, Zlatá Koruna Monastery, and even the Novohradské Mountains.
From the observation tower, the trail continues through several other educational points, leading to the village of Srnín and back to Český Krumlov.
Along the way, you will come across nine informational panels, introducing you to local flora and fauna, as well as the history of the military fortifications built before World War II. The trail also includes interactive educational elements, such as a dendrophone, where you can play sounds on different types of wood, animal footprint identification, and the Tower of Knowledge, which teaches about the economic tree species of the forests on Kleť Mountain.
