For the View of Magdalena

Through hilly landscapes to a chapel with views as far as Šumava, and along the Way of the Cross to Jistebnice.

From the romantic station in Padařov, which can be reached by train from Tábor or where you can park your car, follow the red-marked trail up into the hills of Jistebnická vrchovina. This is a region of green hills, scenic viewpoints, and picturesque valleys, forming part of the Jistebnická Natural Park. The main goal is the Chapel of Saint Mary Magdalene, standing on the site of an old fortress, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The present-day chapel dates from the 19th century and replaces an earlier wooden chapel built in the 14th century by Peter of Rosenberg.

From the chapel, the Way of the Cross, marked by simple stone crosses, leads to the town of Jistebnice. Here, the famous Jistebnice Hymnal was discovered, containing the Hussite anthem Ktož sú boží bojovníci. In the town, you can visit the Richard Lauda Memorial Hall and the Church of Archangel Michael. From Jistebnice, follow the green-marked trail, then continue along a road through Hůrka and Makov back to Padařov.
