Description of the elevation profile of the route: a flat or moderately undulating terrain.
The cycling circuit through Zbudovská Blata offers a pleasant combination of an active holiday and cultural exploration. Due to its low difficulty, the route is particularly suitable for families with children and school groups.
Embark on a discovery cycling tour for the whole family. Explore the magical landscape that once captivated the writer Karel Klostermann (1848-1923) and inspired him to write a novel whose title is widely known—"Fog Over the Moors" (Mlhy na Blatech). The novel was later adapted into a film, and it perfectly captures the region’s melancholic atmosphere and the hard life of proud South Bohemian farmers.
We invite you to a land often shrouded in mist, home to grazing deer, wetlands, and fishponds full of carp. The dams are lined with mighty oaks, and flocks of wild geese, ducks, herons, and screaming seagulls can be seen circling above the water during nesting and fishing seasons. Visit ancient Blata villages, adorned with ornate gables, step into the world of legends and old stories. You won’t find high mountains, wild rivers, or extreme adrenaline experiences here. However, we believe that anyone seeking pure peace and the charm of the South Bohemian countryside will find it an unforgettable experience and will want to return.
The cycling route, approximately 26 km long, is easy and designed mainly for families with children and seniors. It also takes you to the monument of Jakub Kubata, a local hero and magistrate who, in the 16th century, stood up for the rights of the farmers of Zbudovská Blata. The route consists mainly of asphalt roads (existing cycle routes No. 1085, 1083, 1084, 1081) and third-class roads, leading through gently rolling terrain.
