Route description

ZOO Hluboká nad Vltavou

First, visit the Zoological Garden located near the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, right next to the Ohrada hunting lodge. It is set in a typical South Bohemian environment - on the shore of a large pond, in a flat terrain with avenues of old oaks. The picturesque setting is complemented by an attractive view over the surface of the Munický Pond towards Hluboká Castle on the horizon.

Currently, the zoo covers approximately 4.5 hectares and is home to around 300 species of animals, totaling nearly 3000 individuals. In line with tradition, the zoo focuses primarily on breeding animals from Europe and the temperate climate regions of Asia, especially species native to the Czech Republic. There are also smaller exhibits showcasing the fauna and flora of Australia, South America, and Africa. You can observe playful otters, colorful waterfowl, majestic Ussuri tiger, encounter a small Messor barbarus or a massive European moose, and experience the tropical rainforest or the African savannah firsthand.

Sports and Relaxation Area

In the afternoon, head to one of the most comprehensive sports and relaxation complexes in the Czech Republic for a unique trip.

Here, you'll find an ideal place for active leisure suitable for both children and adults. The area offers diverse activities such as an adrenaline park, adventure mini-golf, a giant wooden children's castle, various climbing structures and slides, an inflatable trampoline, and courts for beach volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, or petanque. If you prefer to relax or sunbathe, you can spread picnic blankets or lounge chairs throughout the area. Especially in the summer months, children will appreciate the cooling zone. Newly added features include a large children's center called "Špuntarium," a kids' rope course with a netted center, and an outdoor workout zone.

The complex also features a restaurant with an outdoor terrace where you can enjoy refreshing drinks or snacks.
