Snake Pond
Today, I’ll take you to Hadí Pond, which I discovered during my wanderings around Tchořovice. Hadí Pond is one of the few ponds where even humans are allowed to swim. So, if you decide to follow in my footsteps, don’t forget your swimsuit, so you can enjoy Hadí Pond as much as I did.
It was a beautiful summer day. My friend Puňťa was shining in the sky, warming the earth with his rays. There was no trace of my other friends, the clouds, in the sky. The entire sky belonged to Puňťa and the birds, who were enjoying the beautiful summer day just like me as they set off on an adventure.
I was walking along a soft dirt path, side by side with my human. Every now and then, I jumped up for joy, and sometimes I let her pet me. I was enjoying the wonderful day, savoring the walk, and I wasn’t in a hurry. I listened to the song of the bird friends accompanying me. I enjoyed the shade provided by the tall trees growing to my left.
The path was smooth under my paws. I walked past the forest, past the campsite, and before I knew it, I was in the woods. A beautiful forest, full of young trees, blooming flowers, and many bushes.
I was strolling through nature’s beauty. Occasionally, I greeted a butterfly friend; sometimes, I greeted a bee friend. Once, I almost zipped past a bumblebee buddy. Suddenly, the forest ended, and right in front of me was a large crossroads.
I reached the crossroads and thought about which way to go. I could head right into the deep forest. I could turn left and walk along the dam of an unknown pond to who-knows-where. Or, I could go straight to a pond that wasn’t very large but seemed perfect for a swim.
Of course, I went straight. As soon as I spotted the pond, I wagged my tail goodbye to my human and, with quick steps and a few long leaps, dashed toward the pond. Just a few quick strides, and I was in the water. Clean, refreshing water that pleasantly cooled my fur.
After a quick refreshing dip, I decided to explore. I climbed out of the water and walked onto a small beach. I turned left, and before I knew it, I was at a little cabin. A fairytale wooden cabin from which came the smell of treats for my carp friends.
After checking out the cabin, I went toward some stairs. Steep stairs that seemed to lead to the sky. I had just stepped onto the first step when I heard my human calling from a distance, asking where I was going. Of course, I couldn’t answer her. I didn’t yet know where the stairs led. But I had a feeling they led somewhere I wouldn’t like.
As soon as I felt that, I left the stairs and decided to explore the place from solid ground. After just a few steps, I noticed a slide leading from the sky to the surface of the pond. A few more steps, and I realized the slide was connected to the stairs I had just tried to climb.
Friends, I can tell you, I was so glad I decided to stick to the ground. Slides are not for me. My sister might enjoy sliding, but I prefer to walk on my own paws. Humans and their little ones, though, would surely love the slide. Just a few steps up, and in no time, they’d be splashing into the water.
If you like natural swimming spots, you’ll love Hadí Pond. It’s wonderfully peaceful here, the birds are singing, and there’s a small grassy beach where you can relax. Swimming in the pond is fantastic. And lunch or dinner isn’t far away, either. Tchořovice is just a short walk from Hadí Pond. Just far enough for a dog’s fur to dry after a good swim.
