Around the Boubín Forest

To the lookout tower
The hike begins in the village of Kubova Huť on the blue trail, where the ascent to the Boubín lookout tower starts, which is less than 5 kilometers from the parking lot. Here, the forest still doesn’t differ from the forests we know, but there is a richer small fauna such as insects, birds, and frogs. The trail leads over stones and exposed tree roots. At the top, you can refresh yourself and enjoy the beautiful view. From above, you can see how the Boubín Forest differs from the surrounding "classic" forest. In good visibility, you can even see the Alpine peaks.

Around the forest
From the lookout tower, continue on the blue trail, which will take you along the Boubín Forest to the Boubín Lake. In this section, you walk along the forest. It is one of the most beautiful sections of the trail. Decaying tree trunks lying across each other, covered with moss, are almost everywhere. There are also information boards along the way about the history and natural attractions of the forest.

Boubín Lake
On your way around the forest, you will reach Boubín Lake. Here, you are allowed to dip your feet in the lake. The lake once served as a water reservoir for the navigation canal. At the lake, there are several benches with tables for rest and snacks.

From the lake, continue on the blue trail, and at the „Lukenská cesta“ crossroads, you will switch to the green trail. On your way, you will pass the natural monument „Jilmová skála.“ From here, it is just 5.5 kilometers back to the parking lot. This section will be accompanied by the Forestry Educational Trail.
