Easter exhibition in the South Bohemian Museum
Tradition in the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice
Easter exhibition Spring has come to the village
Spring is associated in folk culture mainly with the celebration of the most important Christian holiday - Easter. In the past, however, it was also a key time for starting agricultural work or caring for newborn domestic animals. We invite you to an Easter exhibition with a rich accompanying programme.
The exhibition will take you into the world of traditional customs associated with the turn of winter and spring. You will learn about festivals such as Groundhog Day, the feast of St. Matthew and St. Gregory, which show how religious and pagan rituals merged. You can enjoy exhibits of historic agricultural tools, as well as objects made of willow wicker, burlap and straw, which had both practical and magical uses.
