An exhibition that makes you think
In 2013, an open-air museum of state border protection was established near the former customs office at the Nové Hrady – Pyhrabruck border crossing.
The aim of the exhibition is to provide an overview of the development of border protection from the earliest times to the Czech Republic's accession to the EU Schengen Area. A significant part of the exhibition focuses on state border protection during the Cold War period when the world was divided into two irreconcilable political, economic, and military blocs.

How to get there
The open-air museum is located at the Nové Hrady – Pyhrabruck border crossing. Parking is available near the museum.

Additional information
The core of the museum consists of exhibits from the former private border museum in Borovany, which was created by Mr. Radomil Marek and his friends. The museum also includes a multimedia information panel where you can watch more than 50 video clips about various aspects of life along the Iron Curtain.
