Pilgrimage Site on Křížová hora (Cross hill)

The Baroque pilgrimage site on Cross Hill above Český Krumlov is a significant spiritual, historical, and cultural place with strong energy, romantic surroundings, and beautiful views of the town and the Bohemian Forest. It offers a variety of cultural and social events all year round.

This is a typical Baroque pilgrimage site, similar to those built in Europe at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. Visitors often compare it to Santini's pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk on the Green Hill, although it is, of course, a structure of completely different dimensions.

The heart of the site on Cross Hill is an octagonal chapel built in 1710, surrounded by a green area and an octagonal cloister (covered pilgrimage walkway) with arcades. The cloister was completed later, between 1715 and 1720. A Way of the Cross with six niche chapels from 1750–1755 leads to the pilgrimage site from the town.
