Chalupská slať – Peat Bog with Floating Islands
The floating peat islands in the bog lake are home to many rare plant species.
Accessibility & Path Description
- The trail starts with a 200 m section of rough asphalt.
- It then transitions to a 1.2 m wide wooden boardwalk.
- The boardwalk runs about 30 cm above the bog surface and has side rails along its entire length, providing better stability even in wet conditions.
Near the educational trail, there is a barrier-free information center at Svinná Lada (accessible WC, entrance).
Scenery & Nature
At the end of the trail, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the largest peat lake in the Czech Republic (1.2 ha) and the surrounding bog.
- The average peat depth is 1.9 m, while the deepest layers near the lake reach 7 m.
- The 137 ha area contains approximately 2,340,000 m³ of peat.
- The floating peat islands support many rare plant species.

A mobile toilet for wheelchair users is available at the parking lot.
