Sladovna Písek
The "Gallery of Play" is a space where children and adults play and create together, learn from each other, and freely cross the boundary between the world of children and adults. Educational work in the exhibitions is key for us, inspired by J. A. Comenius’ approach of “learning through play.”

How to get there
The beautifully renovated Sladovna building is located in the heart of Písek, right on the banks of the Otava River. Access is through the passage near the Town Hall from the Grand Square, leading to an inner courtyard from which you can also enter the Prácheň Museum. The ground floor of Sladovna also houses the Tourist Information Center.
Additional information
For a long time, Sladovna was used for malt production. The grain brought here started its journey in the malt house – the crucial first step for its future. Today, children come to Sladovna, and we believe their experience here will "take root," helping them grow and develop further.
The large Sladovna building spans four floors, featuring both permanent and temporary exhibitions. Through play, they offer inspiration, creativity, experiences, and learning. That’s why visitors can return again and again to discover something new.
The core principle of the exhibitions is simple. Children and their adults step out of the real world for a moment and enter a story where they experience various situations. They must be active, help each other, make decisions, and take responsibility for their actions. We believe that when they leave the exhibition and return to the real world, this experience stays with them and supports their continued learning and development.
