Towpath Trail
The educational trail runs along the Vltava River from Týn nad Vltavou on the restored stone-paved surface of the historic towpath. In the past, rafters used this path with the help of horses to pull large wooden rafts and boats upstream.

Route description
The towpath was restored by the town of Týn nad Vltavou between 2019 and 2020, and in 2021, it was designated as an educational trail to preserve the memory of trades and ways of life connected to the river.
Horses were used to pull boats upstream along the towpath back to their departure point. Such paths ran along the entire length of the Vltava River from České Budějovice to Prague, covering more than 190 km.
Along the 10 information stations, you can learn about the history of towpaths and life along the river.
Detailed information about each station and a black-and-white photo gallery can be found HERE.
