The traditional Easter exhibition at the South Bohemian Museum, entitled Spring has come to the village takes you into the world of traditional customs associated with the turn of winter and spring. You will learn about festivals such as Groundhog Day, the feast of St. Matthew and St. Gregory, which show how religious and pagan rituals merged. You can enjoy exhibits of historical agricultural tools, as well as objects made of willow wicker, burlap and straw, which had both practical and magical uses.
The exhibition is also accompanied by demonstrations of folk techniques and crafts. There will be decorating Easter eggs in different ways, making Easter pastries or knitting baskets and "pomlázka".
Let's get into spring and make an original Easter decoration. New ceramic pieces with spring and Easter motifs and lots of colourful glazes are ready for your Easter creations. Will you choose a bunny, a chick or a sheep? The selection is wide and they will be happy to help you with everything. Creation is suitable for all ages.
The largest pilgrimage in South Bohemia is traditionally held in the vicinity of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Dobrá Voda. An Easter Fair with stalls almost 800 metres long with a range of products from craftsmen and traders, including good refreshments, awaits you. There will also be rides, carousels and other attractions that your children will appreciate.
Go to the fair to buy goods typical of Easter traditions or just to soak up the atmosphere of old times and traditions. You can expect demonstrations of pomla knitting, Easter eggs, wicker basket makers and many other market vendors. You can taste Easter delicacies and enjoy performances by folklore groups. In the heart of České Budějovice, traditional crafts and production await you at the Spring Fair. Vendors of traditional Czech products and dozens of craftsmen with original goods will present themselves.
