From Rožmberk to Vyšší Brod

We start our journey in Rožmberk nad Vltavou, where we first visit Rožmberk Castle and the historical part of the town. Then, we stop at Hotel U Martina to try their honey-glazed roasted chicken thigh with mushroom noodles, a certified regional dish. After a great lunch, we stop by the tourist information center in the hotel and purchase Rožmberk honey, another certified local product from a regional beekeeper.

Now begins the more active part – getting to Vyšší Brod. There are two options:
Following the Vltava River Valley on the main road.
Through Hrudkov – a quiet road through meadows and fields with scenic views.

For both cycling and hiking, the Hrudkov route is better, first marked red, later green.

Upon reaching Vyšší Brod, we head to the main square. Here, we have two choices:
Cukrárna Eva – for good coffee and a dessert
Pajzl u Jakuba pub – for a Jakub beer from the Vyšší Brod microbrewery

Both are certified regional products.

The final part of our trip includes a visit to Vyšší Brod Monastery before returning by train to Rožmberk.
