Route 1: Fritsch Trail

The route is 12.1 km, walking time 3:43 h, a map can be found HERE.

The Fritsch Trail is a scenic hiking trail leading through the Vltava River Valley, offering a great experience for nature and history lovers. It is named in honour of Ing. Emanuel Fritsch, who was instrumental in the construction of hiking trails in the area. The trail starts in Boršov and leads along the red hiking trail through the romantic canyon of the Vltava River, which is part of the Vltava River at Blanský Forest natural monument. The whole route runs along paved and unpaved roads, so it is suitable for moderately fit hikers, but the route is not very suitable for strollers and wheelchairs.

Interesting features on the route

Boršov nad Vltavou - Boršov nad Vltavou is known as a popular stop for paddlers in the southwest of České Budějovice. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when a castle with defensive ramparts stood here. The Gothic church of St. James with a fresco of St. Christopher and a bell from 1495, the parish garden and Habermann's orchard are worth a visit. Across the river is the Europasta mill, one of the largest flour producers in the world.

Dívčí Kámen Castle - The mighty ruin on a rock above the confluence of the Křemžský Brook and the Vltava River is part of the Blanský Forest Protected Landscape Area. Abandoned since 1506, today it offers breathtaking views and is accessible all year round.

Celtic Oppidum Třísov - This important Celtic oppidum was founded around 150 BC. Strategically located above the confluence of the Vltava and Křemžský brook, today it offers remnants of fortifications and a rich history of Celtic civilization.

PEC Blanský les - It protects diverse forests, meadows and rare species of animals. The highest peak Klet' is a dominant feature of the area and offers beautiful views of the South Bohemian landscape.

Route 2: Zbudovská route

The route is 16.6 km, walking time 4:17 h, a map can be found HERE.

This hiking trip will take you to the peaceful South Bohemian countryside, rich in historical and natural attractions. The route starts in Zliv and leads through Pašice, Plástovice and Zbudov, where you can stop at the Jakub Kubata monument. At the end you will return to Zliv. The entire route is 16.6 km long and is ideal for family trips or recreational hiking. The route is easy and leads through a mostly flat landscape, which allows for a relaxing walk without rushing.

Interesting places on the route

Pašice - Another monumental village with traditional architecture of peasant baroque. In the surroundings there is the Volešek pond, which is an ideal place for swimming and is fed by an artificial gully.

Plástovice - Vesická sanctuary and one of the nine historical villages of Blato. Plástovice is the main setting of Karel Klostermann's novel Mists on the Blats, known for its unique architecture of South Bohemian peasant baroque. In the upper part of the village square you will find an information centre.

Zbudov - Historical village whose core has been declared a village conservation area. Zbudov is part of the so-called Zbudovské Blats and is famous for its historic pond and typical folk architecture of the peasant baroque.

The Jakub Kubata Memorial - The 1904 memorial standing by the Soudný Brook commemorates the execution of Jakub Kubata, the leader of the peasant rebellion who fought for the rights of local peasants. The monument is located near the place of his execution and is an important stop on the route.

Mokřiny u Vomáčku - Nature reserve with Zlivský rybník (Zlivský Pond) covering 61 ha. It is an important example of the original marshlands, where you can observe the rich flora and fauna of wetland ecosystems.

Zlivský rybník - With its area of 30 ha and a depth of up to 8 metres, it serves for intensive fish farming and supplies water to Bezdrev pond. Its banks are lined with reeds and willows, and it is a nesting site for the Greater White-fronted Goose, Mallard Duck and Hornbill.

Route 3: Rudolf route

The Rudolfov route is mostly made up of the Road Around the Mining Town nature trail, which takes you through the history of silver mining in the Rudolfov area. The trail offers a fascinating insight into the mining past, which had a major impact on the development of Rudolfov and the wider region. The route begins and ends in Rudolfov and leads through interesting sites such as the Mrhal pond, the former quarry and the Lustenek Chateau. It is ideal for those who want to learn more about the history and at the same time enjoy easy hiking.

St.Vitus Church Rudolfov - The church located in the centre of Rudolfov is a dominant feature of the town and an immovable cultural monument. It was built in 1586 as an evangelical church, and its construction was related to the expansion of silver mining and the arrival of miners in the area.

Former quarry - Remains of mining activities and technical works in the vicinity of Rudolfov, which were used for mining.

Mrhal Pond - The pond, located between the villages of Rudolfov and Lišov, is a popular place for recreation. It offers a well-kept beach with refreshments and a wooden pier, ideal for relaxing and swimming.

Lustenek Castle - Lustenek Castle, also known as the Dean's Court, was built around 1580 and is decorated with rich sgraffito decoration. In the past, it served as the summer residence of the České Budějovice Deanery, but today it is privately owned and not open to the public.

Rudolfov Mining Museum - The museum is located in the reconstructed house of the Royal Mining Office. It offers three exhibitions.
