South Bohemian Summer Lines: Buses Not Just for Bikes...
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the South Bohemian bike buses will once again hit their regular routes, providing cyclists and hikers without cars a convenient way to reach the most attractive destinations in the South Bohemian Region. On a total of eleven specially selected bus lines, the South Bohemian carrier GW BUS a.s. will deploy buses equipped with bike trailers. Destinations such as Kvilda, Lipno, Novohradské Mountains, Třeboň, Česká Kanada, and Orlík are just a few of the stops on the CYKLOTRANS routes. The CYKLOTRANS transport system is a key component of the tourist infrastructure in southern Czech Republic, reliably operating for twenty years and serving tens of thousands of travelers who come to South Bohemia for hiking and cycling.
In 2024, the bike bus system will be further expanded with additional lines from other contracted carriers in the South Bohemian Region. This network offers flexible travel options. You can return from the final station on your own or relax in pristine nature and take advantage of evening connections. There's no need to return to your parked car, allowing you to enjoy pleasant days on your bike.

They provide seasonal public transportation for visitors and local residents throughout the Šumava National Park.
The main news for this season is the extension of the Green Lines' operation, uniformly in the Plzeň and South Bohemian regions. All buses run on weekends from May 18th to October 13th, 2024, and daily from June 29th to September 1st, 2024!
Additionally, mutual ticket recognition applies between public transportation systems in the Czech Republic (in the Plzeň and South Bohemian regions) and Germany (valid on all bus and train lines within the districts of Freyung-Grafenau, Regen, and Cham, approximately 400 connections). This system has been in place since June 11th, 2023!
In the Plzeň Region: The international all-day transfer ticket "TURISTA PLZEŇSKEM A BAVORSKEM" is available for 240 CZK for individuals and 360 CZK for up to a 5-member family.
In the South Bohemian Region: The international all-day transfer ticket "JIKORD+ Bavorsko" is available for 290 CZK for individuals and 440 CZK for up to a 5-member family. Validity of the ticket – on weekends and public holidays (during summer holidays and weekdays) the entire day it was purchased + until 3:00 AM the following day.
This year, the morning connection at 8:43 or 8:53 (on weekends) from Kvilda connects to German buses – departure from the Bučina border crossing at 9:14!
The operation of these lines is also financially supported by the Šumava National Park.
ČD Bike bicycle rental
ČD Bike – Easy Access to Nature
Starting March 23, 2024, you can comfortably enjoy the cycling season with ČD Bike. If you don’t want to travel with your own bike, you can rent one at a railway station and return it at another station.
In all bike rental locations in the South Bohemian Region, cross bikes from the brand Author are available. At the Třeboň station, you can also rent a child trailer from Thule.
Popular electric bikes can be rented at the stations in Jindřichův Hradec, Třeboň, Třeboň Lázně, České Budějovice, and starting June 2024, they will also be available at the rentals in Lipno nad Vltavou and Vyšší Brod Monastery.
